BEFORE PICS.- After we cleaned up the mess that the previous owner left behind.
This is the day after I got home from the hospital from having Ryder. He was still at the hospital in the intensive care, so I wanted to stain all the cabinets before he got home.
The patio door was in really bad shape, a person could see the cold air entering into the house. So Trent and I had to save our pennies so that we could buy a new and more secure door.
Ryder was so kind as to model the new sink and faucet... okay he really didn't have a choice, and I can't wait to black mail him with this photo when he's older and able to date ;-)

In the kitchen we have a dropped soffit (the lowered ceiling, right above the cabinets) so instead of ignore the eye sore, I made it a focal point. I first painted racing stripes that matched the island.
Then I used two different colors of paint and a stencil. The first color is a darker brown/green then I topped it with a glazed silver to give it a shimmered antique look.
We also got a new stove at a thrift store for only $200. The previous owner rented out apartments and he's new renters wanted to buy their own stove, and it works just as well as a new one.
And that my kitchen... so far. The backsplash is definitely my favorite part! We got the tile on sale for $60 and Trent (being the amazing handyman) put the tile to have a herringbone pattern. It was alot of hard work for him, but it turned out awesome!! All in All we got new cupboards, hardware, lights, sink, faucet, stove, fridge, backsplash, blinds, patio door, tile flooring, and a fresh coat of paint. All for under three thousand dollars! It may not be the ultimate kitchen, but I would like to see people create a kitchen as cozy as mine under three thousand dollars. And that my kitchen... so far.
